Do you know how to start a fire without using matches? Visitors to this year’s Lowther Show can join TV’s Bob Podesta for his hugely popular Survival Camp, which is being held in the grounds of Lowther Castle in Penrith on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 August 2016.
Ideal for all ages and the whole family, the free-to-attend Survival Camp covers essential wilderness skills such as navigation, trapping, useful knots and how to make a survival bracelet. Having served with the SAS for a quarter of a century, Bob has survived – and thrived – in some of the world’s harshest environments. He now teaches outdoors skills – from basic map-reading and using a compass, to bushcraft and survival techniques.
As well as Survival Camp, the Lowther Show boasts a comprehensive have-a-go itinerary including the Lowther Horse Driving Trials, Lowther Hound Show, the Lowther Trail Run, gundog handling, clay shooting, field archery, airguns, fishing, falconry and ferreting! The jam-packed show also offers more than 200 exhibition stands, picnic areas, a crammed Main Arena schedule, children’s entertainment, food festival, craft and antiques fairs and live folk music.
