Welcoming tens of thousands of people through the gates at the weekend’s Lowther Show, the headline attraction, the Subaru Horse Carriage Driving Trials bought plenty of fast-paced action of its own, with drivers all ready to tackle the courses, lots of fast and skilled driving plus an enthused crowd soaking up the remarkable displays from the three day event.
Kick starting on the Friday before the Lowther Show, the Dressage got underway where riders were scored on their set sequence of movements. Here the Dressage Judges marked on the freedom, regularity of pace, harmony, impulsion, suppleness and ease of movement in both horse and rider. On the Saturday of the Lowther Show, spectators were treated to the cross-country marathon where obstacles were driven in the correct sequence and at speed! With some of the obstacles placed inside the showground, visitors were treated to an amazing sight without missing any of the action the Lowther Show had in store too. Sunday’s line up involved Cones Driving, with Judges marking the fitness, obedience and suppleness of horses, and the skill and competence of the drivers.
With all these three forms of disciplines judged and marked, the Trials proved a huge success with both drivers and spectators alike. For a full list of results and placings from the Lowther Show, please download the results from the British Carriage Driving website.
