The ever-popular Chudleys Gundog Championship is welcomed back to each of the Countryman Fairs events for 2018. With leading dog food manufacturer Chudleys once again sponsoring the championship season throughout.
The first rounds of the Chudleys Gundog Championship is set to kick off at the Kelmarsh Country Show on Sunday 1st and Monday 2nd April 2018.
Competitors and spectators can look forward to a return of popular favourites including Up ‘n’ Over, Long Retrieve, Short Fence, Pick ‘n’ Mix, Duck Distraction and Partridge Pen as well as the Working Test which, for this year, will be a new format. The championship will see gundogs put through a series of challenging trials that will showcase their incredible level of skill and aptitude as they try to complete each task. Qualifiers from each of the events will then go head to head at the Midland Game Fair’s Grand Final in September, with the titleholder awarded with a £2,000 prize, an engraved trophy and rosette.
Countryman Fairs Gundog Events Co-ordinator Laura Bacon says of this year’s upcoming competition: “Year after year, the Chudleys Gundog Championship draws in hundreds of handlers and their dogs eager to take part in this fantastic contest. It’s the only one of its kind, and every year we continue to raise the bar by discovering the finest talent in the world of Scurry and Working Test handlers. We look forward to seeing this year’s action unfold and we welcome each and everyone of you at all the shows this year!”
As a thrilling competition to take part in or to simply spectate, the Chudleys Gundog Championship promises to be a spectacle for all to enjoy. Who will prevail in the Chudleys 2018 Gundog Championship?
